Schedule:

The Student Writer will work remotely most of the time, but will need to be available for a few hours in-office, including an in-person meeting at least once per week and will need to be available for infrequent weekend and/or evening events. The position will report to Senior Communication Specialist Aaron R. Conklin.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have previous writing experience, possess strong writing skills and attention to detail. Creativity, a curious mind, a positive attitude and an ability to work well on a team are also required.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIN, X) is a plus.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Student Writer responsibilities include:

• Regular production of engaging articles and features for inclusion on the College of Letters & Science's communication platforms, including a monthly e-newsletter and a biannual alumni magazine.
• Contributing ideas and content to various social media, marketing and advancement campaigns. This content may involve being part of reels and videos.
• Occasional assistance with setting up and staffing events hosted by the College of Letters & Science

Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time especially at L&S events
• Must be able to lift to 30 pounds (equipment and event supplies)
• Must be able to comfortably interact with campus students, faculty/staff, alumni and L&S community members and remain focused for extended periods of time.
