The Opportunity
As a Safety Report Lead Engineer in the Safety Report Group in the Design Authority, you will help shape the safety case for HPC. You will play a key role in delivering the safety justification, ensuring that HPC can be safely commissioned and operated.

What you’ll be doing
- As part of the HPC Design Authority team, you will help shape the strategy for developing the nuclear safety case for commissioning and operation. This involves gaining a deep understanding of HPC’s operations, assessing commissioning risks, and ensuring a comprehensive and clear safety justification. You will also lead the development of key safety case sub-sections related to commissioning systems, structures, and components.
- In this role, responsibility includes specifying and coordinating the delivery of technical content that supports the nuclear safety case. This will require close collaboration with both internal and external suppliers to ensure all necessary information is gathered and effectively integrated. Additionally, strategies will be established to support governance and the successful implementation of the safety case.
- Engagement with senior leaders and regulators will be a crucial aspect of this position. Strong communication and collaboration will be needed to drive the implementation of the safety justification, ensuring compliance and alignment with project objectives.
Who you are
- Being a Safety Report Lead Engineer at HPC means providing strong technical leadership in developing and implementing nuclear safety case strategies. You will have experience managing complex UK nuclear safety cases, ensuring clear justifications, and leading teams to deliver high-quality results. A strong understanding of nuclear safety and regulatory requirements is essential.
- You’ll work closely with internal and external regulators, presenting safety cases and incorporating feedback. The role requires collaboration across teams and disciplines, along with problem-solving skills to adapt to changing requirements and uncertainty.
- We’re looking for someone who can influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and manage QA procedures and document control. Your ability to ensure compliance and drive collaboration will be key to success in this role.
