Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, analytical, results-oriented professional with excellent written and oral communication skills to serve as SAFE Model Administrator. Under administrative direction, this position will provide experienced professional coaching, consultation, and project management for the maintenance, continuous improvement, and consistent application of the SAFE model within an assigned geographic region. The position will serve as a subject matter expert for the SAFE model, family engagement, safety assessment/planning/oversight, clinical supervision, and field practice fidelity monitoring. This position will provide observation, feedback, and coaching to professional regional staff to increase knowledge and skills related to the application of the SAFE model, family engagement practice, and clinical and administrative supervision. The position will also conduct case reviews and provide consultation to evaluate safety practice and family engagement practice, while also providing coaching to staff involved in consultation activities. Essential Functions
- Serves as SAFE Model Administrator for an assigned sub-region
- Conducts high level case reviews and provides expert consultation to evaluate safety practice and family engagement practice
- Provides expert level field support to field supervisors and other appropriate staff to reinforce core skills and knowledge, enhancing the transfer of learning from the training classroom to field operations
- Develops and implements strategies to foster engagement, coordination, and integration of core child welfare and child protection practices and achieve specified outcomes
- Provides high level input into overall DCFS policies, procedures, and training curricula as a subject matter expert
- Attends and provides leadership and input into various meetings
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a master’s degree in social work or a related human services field
- Requires three years of professional experience in child welfare services
- Requires three years of supervisory experience in the area of child welfare
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 years of professional experience conducting direct child welfare or child protection casework for DCFS, private sector partner agencies, or a DCFS counterpart agency in another state
- 4 years of professional experience in a public or private organization exercising working knowledge and application of child welfare principles, best practice development, employee coaching, emerging issues, and research
- 4 years of professional experience in a public or private organization conducting strategic planning and/or employee coaching
- 3 years of professional experience in policy development and implementation for a public or private social service organization
- 3 years of professional experience in a public or private organization exercising knowledge of child welfare related federal and state laws, rules, and regulations
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires ability to travel throughout the region approximately 50-75% of the time in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
