RSP Accounting Intern

Department Overview:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is looking for accounting interns who are eager to support the research enterprise at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The positions would primarily involve analyzing grant expenditures for appropriateness based on sponsor requirements and completing financial reports, reviewing and tracking invoices, and closing out expired grant awards.Anticipated Start Date:

We have multiple openings. Chosen work schedules are during normal business hours, which are 7:30 – 5:30 Monday through Friday. During the school months, students are required to work a minimum of 10-15 hours per week. Students pick a schedule that works best with their classes within the normal business hours and there will be flexibility during exams.Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

N/AKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with accounting software, or an aptitude to learn these skills quickly on the job.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Dependability in working assigned hours.
• Strong ability to think and work independently.
• Accounting and other Business majors preferred.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
• Assisting accountants with filing of financial reports.
• Assisting accountants with tracking of invoices in an internal database system.
• Processing the closeout of old grant awards.
• Other office duties as assigned by supervisor.
