Purpose of Position
The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering & Mines at the University of North Dakota seeks to fill one research assistant professor position preferably in the area of fabrication of circuits and satellites. This will be a 12-month position. Successful candidates will support the commitment to growing their undergraduate student populations in electrical engineering and growing research in national security. Successful candidates will be appointed to a faculty position in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS).
The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science supports degree programs and cutting-edge research in areas related to Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, and Cyber Security. Undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, and Cyber Security. Our academic programs serve a total of approximately 700 students, approximately 550 at the undergraduate level and 150 at the graduate level. Our programs and research activities provide a balance of theoretical and practical, hands-on experiences that prepare students for academic careers, further study, and employment in a variety of sectors.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Supporting research projects and activities including participation in proposal development, overseeing various research lab activities, supervising student research projects, and disseminating research achievements.
- Participation in fabricating circuits and satellites.
- Teaching two courses a semester to support the mission of the Electrical Engineering Department.
- Practicing continuing improvement in instruction.
- Managing and supporting the Electrical Engineering lab courses.
- Participating in student recruitment activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Competencies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department and the College of Engineering and Mines
- Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery.
- Engage industry partners and connect course content to the practice of engineering in the field.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Background in circuit design and fabrication.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in satellite fabrication.
- Hands-on experience in building circuits
- History of working on national defense projects
- Security clearance or an ability to get a clearance
