WHO WE ARE: At Fors Marsh, we take on issues that matter. We are a team of researchers, advisors, and communicators working together to shape the systems that shape people's lives. We look at human behavior from all angles to design targeted solutions that influence decision-making and move people to action. We are committed to the problem, not just the project, and we are intentional about taking on work and forming partnerships that balance purpose, people, planet, and profit. We are a certified B Corporation, a Just employer, and a 2019–2024 Top Workplace awardee. We hold ourselves accountable to the values that have always defined us, and those values drive us to be the best possible versions of ourselves—for each other, our communities, our clients, and the world.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Under a Communication Campaign Research & Evaluation practice area, the Health Communication Research division needs a self-starter to support formative, process, and summative evaluations that often involve underrepresented populations. This early career position is ideal for someone who is building a career in health communication research using mixed methods (i.e., qualitative and quantitative) and likes to support multiple projects, particularly those that must use cultural competency and plain language to speak authentically and respectfully to underrepresented populations.

    • Help draft recruitment and data collection materials (e.g., interview and focus group guides, survey instruments).
    • Help create Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) packages.
    • Support sampling (e.g., help develop Boolean search strategies and participant inclusion/exclusion criteria, assist with drawing samples).
    • Assist with data collection (e.g., extract information from secondary sources, take notes during interviews and focus groups, coordinate survey fielding) and enter data.
    • Help conduct data analysis (e.g., code text using software such as NVivo, generate descriptive statistics using SPSS or Stata).
    • Help draft reports and presentations (e.g., help draft methods and results sections of technical reports, develop charts).
    • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans for proposals.
    • Coordinate purchasing, subcontracting, and consulting requisitions by obtaining and comparing vendor and consultant quotes, establishing suitable justifications, developing or modifying forms, and processing payments.

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS degree, ideally in health communication, and if not then in public health, communication, social science, or related field.
    • At least 2 years of experience in social science research.
    • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.
    • Proficiency in English; proficiency in Spanish is a preferred but not required.
    • Goal to pursue a career in health communication research.
    • Strong self-starting and self-motivation skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience with working as part of a team as well as independently on assigned tasks.
    • High level of comfort with learning new skills and/or working with unfamiliar topic areas.
    • High level of organization and attention to detail.
    • Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
