What You Will Do:

The Remote Medical Coder II - Hospital Outpatient Infusions will review clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply ICD-10CM/PCS and HCPCS codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research and regulatory compliance. Will code outpatient conditions and procedures according to the ICD-10 Official Guidehouse for Coding and Reporting, the CPT Manual and CPT Assistant, while ensuring the highest level of confidentiality, excellent service, accuracy and timeliness. This position is 100% remote.

  • Analyzes outpatient diagnostics and medical records and interprets documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures. Assigns proper ICD-10-CM and HCPCS diagnostic and operative procedure codes to charts and elated records by reference to designated coding manuals and other reference material.

  • Assists other departments with coding/DRG issues. Applies sequencing guidelines to coded data according to official coding rules. Reviews charges for verification of service. May include assignment of charging functions. Applies uniform hospital discharge data-set definitions to select the principal diagnosis, principal procedure, and other diagnoses and procedures that require coding.

  • Assesses the adequacy of medical records documentation to ensure it supports the principal procedure, complications and co-morbid conditions assigned codes.

  • Consults with appropriate physician to clarify medical record information as necessary.

  • May perform advanced coding duties with more complex record types to meet quality and productivity requirements.

What You Will Need:

  • Must have one of the following credentials: CPC, COC, CCS, RHIT, or  RHIA

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • 3-5 years previous outpatient coding experience

  • 1-3 years previous experience coding infusions and/or oncology


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Knowledge of coding procedures and systems.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills

The annual salary range for this position is $43,400.00-$65,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
