Regional Workshop Manager
Regional - dependent on successful applicates location      
Full Time, Permanent   
Salary: £55,000 - £57,000 (dependent on experience) plus company car

 

Here at Serco, we are seeking a Regional Workshop Manager to lead the direction, development and management of professional Maintenance Workshops reporting to the Head of Commercial Road Transport. You will contribute to the strategy for improvement and high growth through MyFleet efficiencies and innovation and deliver on our commitments to provide high quality services that create sustainable value for our customers, employees, and shareholders through our Fleet Maintenance portfolio.

 

In this key role, you will be responbile for all aspects of the internal Fleet Maintenance and Workshop operation throughout our UK fleet operations - safety, efficiency and stakeholder management and will travel to workshops within a dedicated region.


As part of this you’ll:

 

Strategy and Plans:

  • Implement and manage robust strategies and plans for the Fleet Maintenance and Workshops within the business, aligned to Serco Group and divisional strategies, that will deliver the objectives of the division and Business Unit.
  • Ensure services are formulated to meet the needs of all current and future aspects of the contract requirements and new business.
  • To identify suitable sites for new workshop facilities and develop existing sites into a commercial and viable operation. 
  • Monthly reporting against VOR (to include vehicle repairs outside of KPI and MOT failure investigation

Customers and Markets:

  • Lead and engage in the development of a network of senior relationships with customers, potential customers, partners and stakeholders in order to anticipate and meet the Business Unit existing and future needs.

Organisation and People:

  • Recruit, professionally manage and develop outstanding Workshop personnel, and ensure the workshops are staffed with talented motivated people who play to their strengths to meet the business needs and are motivated to improve.
  • Manage implementation of appropiate policies, practices and equipment to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees using Fleet & Plant is actively managed.
  • Ongoing coaching, training and development of the team, including the Workshop Apprenticeship Program.

Growth and Financials:

  • Ensure the Fleet Workshop strategy is delivered to support the growth aspirations of the business ensuring appropriately costed specifications are built to deliver bid expectations. 
  • Budgetary monitoring across all sites, driving change to ensure cost effective delivery for all maintenance services.
  • To ensure effective management of Fleet Maintenance Workshops are in place to achieve financial and improvement targets and to meet all legal requirements.

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

 

  • Be a Qualified HGV Motor Vehicle Technician.
  • Highly skilled in Fleet Workshop management.
  • Highly impactful, articulate, strong relationship builder with the ability to influence at all levels and with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and key business stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing fleet maintenance teams.
  • Experience of maintaining large fleets
  • Experience of proactively engaging customers to improve relationships for the long-term and continue to drive value.
  • Sound strategic thinker with the ability to operate with a hands-on, pragmatic approach when required.
  • Strong understand and experience of managing Health & Safety in Workshops.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office platforms.

Desirable:

  • Goods Management CPC qualification
  • HGV License
  • IOSH
  • Health & Safety qualifications
