The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Regional State Senior Government Affairs Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Representing the company before, interacting with, and lobbying state and local governments in the assigned region.
- Participating in and representing the company’s positions on trade associations such as state Chambers of Commerce, Manufacturing Associations, and other relevant bodies.
- Drafting testimony, responses, comments and other research when necessary in advancing state and local government affairs agenda.
- Monitoring and reporting on legislative activity in assigned region and identifying issues of relevance to 3M’s state and local agenda.
- Work cooperatively with internal, cross functional stakeholders to develop policy positions, develop strategy and work to advance agenda at the state and local level.
- Participate in national organizations of Legislators, Governors, Attorneys General and others to develop and strengthen 3M’s relationships and advance 3M’s legislative agenda.
- Manage consultants and related administrative matters in assigned region.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Eight (8) years of combined experience working as a legislative aide at the state level, state employee in a state government department or agency, contract lobbyist, corporate lobbyist and/or association lobbyist in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently
Work location:
- Remote - Must be in one of the following states (IL, WI, CO, MO, IN, MI, OH)
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
