Regional Political Director, The States Project
LOCATION: National. 100% Remote, with 30% of expected travel for in-state meetings and events.DEADLINE TO APPLY: November 25, 2024
Position Summary:The Regional Political Director (RPD) will have the opportunity to work directly with caucuses, candidates, and other in-state partners to achieve TSP power-building outcomes. They will be the point of contact for TSP’s political work in assigned states and responsible for building relationships and consistent engagement with candidates and lawmakers, caucus staff, and leadership. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Political Strategy. The ideal candidate will possess superior political judgment and experience. Relevant knowledge of state legislative caucuses and campaigns is a plus.
As part of TSP’s electoral program, the successful candidate will build strategic relationships, collect and analyze political data and information, and develop a deep understanding of the changing political dynamics. Specifically, they will write spending plans based on our evidence based Spending Guidelines, work directly with in-state partners, provide key strategic guidance around campaign best practices, provide oversight of campaign effectiveness and impact of TSP dollars and overall budgets, and track whether campaigns and caucuses are hitting specific metrics. RPDs will also help to identify the most effective, diverse lawmakers in their assigned states, and work with them and leadership to help advance America’s Goals.

The position offers a competitive benefits package. Compensation:The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $142,672 per year.*

Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build strategic and deep relationships with key stakeholders to further TSP electoral and policy goals
- Build, manage, and oversee the relationships with caucus staff, candidates, campaign staff, and other in-state political organizations in assigned states.
- Increase TSP political knowledge about each state, staying fully up to date on the latest developments in order to help TSP make the most strategic decisions possible
- Have a deep understanding and analysis of the global state legislative campaign spending landscape in each assigned state and a full understanding of spending gaps in each state
- Ensure that state lawmakers know how to access TSP lawmaker resources and supports
- Help to identify, build, and maintain relationships with key lawmakers
- Build relationships to ensure access to all metrics and data necessary to analyze state legislative campaigns in the chamber
- Draft plans for how TSP will do its spending in each assigned state based on our Spending Guidelines and knowledge of the global spending landscape and incentivize campaign best practices with our spending
- Make investment decisions on which districts will be critical to invest in to achieve our goals
- Influence the overall spending program with our in state strategic spending partner to ensure they are running the most effective possible program in alignment with our Spending Guidelines
- Provide timely, relevant updates and information about candidates, caucuses, other in-state partners, and the landscape in each state to other teams and TSP supporters
- Share best practices, identify innovations, and support operations across the political team
- Demonstrate organizational leadership and participation by serving on and/or leading internal committees as requested (e.g. Care Committee, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, Retreat Planning Committee, etc.).
