ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Manager, Distribution | East Coast provides operational oversight of all functional aspects of the distribution centers in their region. This oversight includes monitoring of daily performance and volume, understanding all administrative functions of the region, and serving as the point of contact to identify and lead the resolution of issues within their region. By partnering with the Logistics Director, the Regional Manager, Distribution manages vendor relationships with suppliers and service providers, constantly working towards high level service and cost reduction through increased efficiency and innovation. The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for all aspects of the Distribution Center (DC) operation, including the Company’s Warehouse Management System. This role will be responsible for the training and development of the distribution center leadership within their region, assisting with the recruitment of warehouse personnel, and conducting regular staff meetings. The Regional Manager, Distribution will be responsible for 100% compliance with all requirements including DOT standards, and the Company’s Food Safety and Operational Safety Programs. This role requires a dynamic, experienced professional who is willing to jump in and support their regions to success!

East Regional Manager: Supports the Distribution Centers in Gaithersburg, MD., Miami, FL. and Gurnee, IL.

 

RESPONSIBILTIES 

Metrics Reporting

  • Completes the Daily Metrics Reporting – monitors activity in their assigned DC’s and communicates performance to the business as required
  • Monitors Daily Volume issues and alerts Logistics Director and Customer Experience when daily volumes impact Operations
  • Provides reporting to the Logistics Director for all warehouse-related credits and damages

Resolution Management

  • Track/Trace/Research shipment issues as requested
  • Request Proof of Delivery from all carrier partners
  • Resolve all carrier related issues within their region
  • Research all warehouse claims received by internal partners and assign investigation to the respective distribution center for resolution and/or corrective actions
  • Serve as the expeditor for all urgent receiving issues and requests for the Distribution Centers within their region
  • Represents the Logistics Team for all matters concerning other cross functional entities.
  • Communicate external issues that may/will impact daily operations (weather delays, natural disasters, strikes, etc.) to all stakeholders across the organization. Coordinate facility closures with the Logistics Director
  • Coordinate early facility closure requests with the DC Managers and Logistics Director

Facilities Management 

  • Address all facilities related issues in the Distribution Centers within their region
  • Coordinate all facilities related inspections at the Distribution Centers within their region
  • Work with DC managers to track facilities budgets, manage scheduled PM’s and other repairs, maintenance and investments

Training 

  • Draft and update all Logistics and Warehousing SOP’s
  • Train Distribution Center managers on all new and updated SOP’s. Ensure training is cascaded down to the DC Associates
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on all areas associated with the Distribution Center operations
  • Assist with onboarding new DC managers
  • Support and implement Operational Safety programs for current and new employees

Fleet Management 

  • Asset management (licensing and registration, insurance, maintenance, purchase and disposal, documentation)
  • Responsible for tracking, reporting and maintaining vehicle routine and extraordinary maintenance
  • Responsible for DOT compliance oversight
  • Execute and oversee Driver training

Quality and Safety Management

  • Coordinate corrective actions as required for all Quality related matters
  • Work directly with the Senior Quality Manager to implement Food Safety and Quality Insurance & GDP programs at all DC Locations under their supervision. Hold individual DC’s accountable to the Company’s FSQA & GDP programs and goals
  • Investigate and coordinate corrective or disciplinary actions for all Safety related matters
  • Work directly with the Director of Logistics and People & Culture to implement Operational Safety programs at all DC Locations under their supervision. Hold individual DC’s accountable to the Company’s safety goals and programs

Vendor Relationship Management  

  • Assist the Logistics Director with all Departmental Request for Quote (RFQ) activity
  • Negotiate with Vendors and Service Providers
  • Assist with the down select activity associated with the RFQ
  • Maintain working relationships with critical vendors to ensure appropriate service levels by our vendors

Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with the Purchasing team, serve as the Logistics Team’s primary point of contact for all Cycle Count and Physical Inventory activity

Budget Management

  • Provide input for quarterly and annual budget planning as it relates to the DCs under their supervision
  • Monitor warehouse spend for the team
    • Tracks budget vs actual spend for warehouse, freight and fleet operations

People Management

  • Direct supervision of Distribution Center Managers at each location within their territory
  • Jointly manages (with the Distribution Center Manager) the Recruitment of warehouse associate level personnel
  • Manages the headcount planning process, in partnership with the Logistics Director, for each DC under their supervision
  • Provides oversight for Over-time for the DCs under their supervision
  • Evaluates, and documents performance of staff for compliance with job standards, established AUI policies, objectives and contributions in attaining assigned objectives, encouraging an overall spirit of teamwork and collaboration within AUI
  • Performs and documents periodic feedback with the DC Manager
  • Conducts routine one-on-one meetings with each DC Manager under their supervision
  • Conducts regular staff meetings, and on an as-needed basis, instructs staff on company goals, company events, marketing promotions, new products and sales programs, explaining the impact on their jobs

Ad Hoc Project Management

  • Manage, support, and execute ad hoc projects as directed by the Logistics Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • High school diploma plus 6 years of equivalent working experience in warehousing, logistics and/or other related fields
  • Knowledge of modern warehousing techniques including logistics, special handling/storage requirements and shipping alternatives
  • Must have the ability to communicate, both actively and pro-actively
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed to objectives without supervision; Ability to manage and resolve recurring problems

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree with three years of experience in the field
  • Proven track record of developing and rolling out successful initiatives related to continuous improvement 
  • Project management experience a plus

 

SALARY RANGE

We hire exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways we do that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $90,000 - $100,000.

This role will be bonus eligible.

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferrable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion, the salary offered.
