Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation’s Office of Compliance is seeking a Regional Audit Manager for the Eastern region of Virginia. This position will manage and direct the Regional State Tax Audit program to ensure compliance. Applying leadership techniques through training, coaching, and assisting staff members, the Regional Audit Manager will guide the program in order to reduce the tax gap for the Commonwealth of Virginia in a manner consistent with the agency’s mission, values and culture.
As a Regional Audit Manager, you will…
Manage staff of Senior Auditors and Auditors who conduct tax audits of businesses
Conduct audits to ensure compliance and make the proper assessments of tax liabilities of individuals and businesses in a fair and equitable manner
Provide quality customer service to the citizens of Virginia
Plan and direct multiple audits concurrently
Provide leadership as well as professional and technical guidance to staff
Provide recommendations to improve processes and operational efficiency
Travel to region for in person meetings with personnel, staff and taxpayers on a regular basis.
Meet with staff members in person at least two times per evaluation year
This is a remote position that will serve the Eastern Virginia region. Applicants would need to reside within 100 miles of the Eastern Virginia region.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $110,000.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of effective principles and practices of management and supervision; including working knowledge of performance management techniques and practices for managing
Considerable knowledge of state sales & use and withholding tax laws, rules, regulations, and policies
Demonstrated ability to communicate concise and comprehensive information verbally and in writing, to customers, representatives, and staff.
Considerable management or supervisory work experience preferably in an audit environment
Must reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia and within 100 miles of the Eastern Virginia region.
Additional Considerations
Advanced knowledge and/or experience in business, finance, statistics, auditing, accounting and other relevant areas or work and study.
