RecSports Supervisor

Purpose of Position

The RecSports Supervisor is responsible for on-site supervision and administration of the various RecSports sports activities, including multiple sports that can occur simultaneously. Supervisors are also responsible for leading sport-specific training for RecSports officials and for assisting the professional staff and program managers when needed.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicate and consistently enforce university, departmental, off-site facility, and RecSports policies and procedures with all participants and staff.
  • Assist the Program Manager and Coordinator with developing trainings and rulebooks for sports.
  • Attend all RecSports and Team Wellness meetings/trainings.
  • Lead the verification of player status and eligibility, supervision of play, and completion of daily/league reports and evaluations.
  • Ensure collection of participant and game tracking information using appropriate technology applications.
  • Assist with training, supervision, and evaluation of RecSports officials and scorekeepers.
  • Facilitate sport-specific trainings for RecSports officials/scorekeepers.
  • Be familiar with, communicate and promote all programs and activities offered by Wellness & Health Promotion.
  • Provide leadership during injuries, rule protests, disciplinary matters, rule interpretations, and facility conflicts.
  • Transport and track all supplies used, needed, and report them to the Coordinator.
  • Provide leadership to all staff on shift and complete assigned tasks/forms.
  • Be familiar with, communicate and apply all risk management and first aid procedures when necessary.
  • Perform occasional field maintenance and office work.
  • Develop good rapport and strong communication between RecSports staff, officials, scorekeepers, captains, and players.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and customer service-oriented attitude that embraces a fun work environment
  • Maintain current certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED.
  • Complete all cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned to maintain a safe & healthy environment.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE as directed for specific tasks/duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a personable attitude.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED, or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire. (Training provided by the Wellness Center at no cost for employees)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Strong decision-making and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical and detailed knowledge of game rules and officiating techniques.
  • Certification in officiating.
  • Valid driver’s license and completion of defensive driving course.
