Purpose of Position

The RecSports Program Manager will assist the Coordinator of Campus Recreation in programming for and administration of the department’s RecSports Program. Individual will assist with administrative duties such as hiring, scheduling, rule development, creating and enforcing policy, communicating with participants, etc... This position is a member of the Administrative group of the Wellness & Health Promotion Department.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead in hiring, interviewing, training, scheduling, and evaluating RecSports Supervisors, Officials, and Scorekeepers.
  • Lead all RecSports meetings/trainings as well as attend all departmental meetings/trainings.
  • Ensure that all RecSports staff follow RecSports and Wellness & Health Promotion employee policies.
  • Assist with administering program marketing and promotions, including staffing tabling events.
  • Assist with supervising and facilitating special events as needed.
  • Serve as an active member of the Administrative Team.
  • Meet with Coordinator of Campus Recreation regularly.
  • Organize RecSports Supervisor and Officials meetings and training agendas.
  • Develop online trainings for RecSports staff, including rule videos and quizzes.
  • Facilitate recognition of exceptional RecSports employees.
  • Respond to participant inquiries promptly and efficiently.
  • Facilitate entering of RecSports scores, team rosters, and sportsmanship ratings.
  • Facilitate Job Performance Appraisals for team members.
  • Assist with the upkeep, acquisition, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Identify and revise appropriate rules and regulations for RecSports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a personable attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Ability to enforce all rules as they relate to RecSports and Wellness & Health Promotion programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of team sport and individual/dual activities.
  • Ability to provide leadership during injuries, rule protests, disciplinary matters, rule interpretations, and facility conflicts.
  • Maturity, dependability, and a positive attitude.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED, or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire. (Training provided by the department at no cost for employees)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical and detailed knowledge of game rules and officiating techniques.
  • Previously employed by the UND RecSports program as an official or supervisor.
