Position Summary:
The Rare Kidney Community Advocate reporting to the Executive Director, Patient Advocacy within the Corporate Affairs function, will strengthen Travere Therapeutics’ grassroots engagement with rare disease patient communities—especially underserved populations disproportionately affected by kidney disease. This individual will play a critical role in building relationships with patients, caregivers, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. Working within the Patient Advocacy team and in close collaboration with our field based Rare Kidney Educators (nurses, pharmacists, and social workers), the Rare Kidney Community Advocate will help bridge the gap between patients and the resources they need, ensuring culturally competent and community-driven engagement.
Additionally, this position will represent Travere externally at community-based programs and activities, driving awareness of Rare Kidney Disease and establishing partnerships that support and educate patients and families impacted by Rare Kidney Diseases such as FSGS, IgAN, and other conditions. This role is responsible for engaging with Advocacy groups on Health Equity initiatives, building strategic community-based partnerships, and increasing awareness of Rare Kidney Disease in communities where people are disproportionately impacted.
Responsibilities:
Engaging with Patient Advocacy Organizations
• Deepen existing relationships with Advocacy organizations focused on health equity, healthcare, kidney disease, and rare disease.
• Represent Travere at ongoing events and activities to raise awareness of Rare Kidney Disease and identify critical knowledge and resource gaps.
• Prepare regular ‘field reports’ to share across the organization and inform decision making around patient engagement and education.
• Serve as the liaison between Advocacy organizations and Rare Kidney Educators to expand outreach and facilitate educational opportunities.
Building Partnerships with Community Organizations and Leaders
• Ensure alignment with Travere’s corporate objectives by establishing criteria and prioritizing community partnerships that will focus on geo-targeted, grassroots, patient-centric engagements.
• Implement actionable and meaningful tactics that drive Rare Kidney Disease awareness and catalyze communities to share vital information.
• Foster goodwill and build trust overtime, demonstrating Travere’s commitment to the Rare Kidney community.
Delivering Rare Kidney Disease Patient Resources
• Support the development of culturally relevant educational materials, and messages for grassroots activities and engagement.
• Assist with drafting and refining slide decks that provide an overview of Travere and Rare Kidney Disease, for presenting at community activities and/or sharing with stakeholders.
• Benchmark existing Rare Kidney Disease patient education materials to understand common language and terminology and identify resource gaps and needs.
• Gather patient insights to ensure materials and messaging resonate with communities and appropriately reflect their needs and priorities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
• Attend regular Cross-functional Meetings between Rare Kidney Community Advocates and Rare Kidney Educators to share community insights while ensuring compliance separation.
• Attend quarterly cross-functional strategy meetings with Commercial & Market Access to align on key challenges facing underserved patients.
• Together, with the Rare Kidney Educators, develop an internal knowledge-sharing platform where Rare Kidney Community Advocates and Rare Kidney Educators can document patient challenges, community needs, and best practices.
• Maintain clear compliance guardrails in all interactions with patients.
Education/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related clinical or healthcare discipline including but not limited to nursing, public health, or social work.
• 7+ years of experience working in healthcare, patient advocacy or a related field is a plus.
• Proven track record of leading health related grassroots community campaigns or advocacy initiatives, kidney or rare disease experience preferred.
• Experience working with diverse communities and participation in Health Equity activities and initiatives.

• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to identify shared goals and partner with individuals from different cultures and disciplines.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, in the field covering a large geographic territory, while maintaining consistent communications with the Patient Advocacy Team and cross functional partners.
• Familiarity with patient advocacy, rare disease, and healthcare policy.
• Demonstarted ability to build and maintain relationships with patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrates empathy and respect with patients, families, and patient advocacy leaders.
• Strong professional experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Well organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong public speaking skills, a plus.
• Bilingual/Spanish Speaking a plus.
• Ability to travel 60% domestically, approximately 2 weeks per month

Target Base Pay Range:
$146,000.00 - $190,000.00*This information is current as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay offered to a candidate will depend on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and location.
