About the Role

Our team is looking for a talented and driven individual to join our team as a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on advancing our client-oriented projects and leveraging the cutting-edge technology of quantum computing. As part of our team, you will be instrumental in advancing our projects, focusing on the development and optimization of quantum algorithms tailored to address complex challenges in chemistry and material science. You will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development initiatives, a variety of challenging projects while contributing to the development of our open-source software, Tangelo.

Responsibilities

• Research and Development
  • Conduct research to advance quantum computing for materials science. 
  • Conduct research on quantum algorithms for simulation tasks with emphasis on resource estimation
• Software Development
  • Develop and integrate tools and modules for our software platform, Tangelo, to facilitate quantum computing tasks.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate quantum computing solutions into client projects.
  • Communicate research findings through reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant technical field such as Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science
• Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
  • Circuit compilation and quantum resource estimation.
  • Quantum algorithms such as quantum phase estimation, Hamiltonian simulation methods, quantum eigenvalue transformations, or subspace methods such as quantum Kryvlov.
  • Electronic structure methods on quantum computers for multireference systems, and ability to benchmark against relevant classical approaches.
  • Error correction and error mitigation on quantum computers
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with git and collaborative development within a team-based codebase

Nice to haves

• An understanding of the quantum hardware landscape and the distinguishing features of each platform
• Familiarity with computational chemistry concepts (Hartree-Fock, density functional theory, configuration interaction, coupled-cluster, basis sets, etc.)
• Familiarity with C/C++
• Experience with Python packages for quantum computing such as Tangelo, OpenFermion, Qiskit, Cirq, Qutip, etc.

• Start date: Year-round, on a rolling basis
• Duration: up to 1 year, with possibility of renewal
• Location: Remote

The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $115k - $135k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
