As we enter an exciting phase of growth, The Product Development team is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Quality Engineer with extensive expertise with ISO standards, quality planning and systems management, and compliance management, ensuring finished products meet customer requirements and engineering specifications. This role is crucial to driving continuous improvement within manufacturing and design operations.
Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer ensures top-notch quality throughout the manufacturing process, working with various teams to solve issues and drive improvements for both new and existing fitness equipment products. You will play a key role in ensuring our products consistently exceed customer expectations, conduct audits and analyze data to spot trends and identify defects, perform root cause analysis and identify corrective actions. You will lead continuous improvement in product and process quality and collaborate with production teams domestic and international, ensuring the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Quality Management Systems:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives with direct impact on production efficiency.
- Ensure that all products — new and existing — meet rigorous quality control standards before release.
- Develop, implement, and manage quality management systems (QMS) in alignment with ISO standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality requirements
- Conduct regular QMS reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system effectiveness.
CAPA and Non-Conformance Management:
- Lead and manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to address quality issues, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Oversee non-conformance reporting processes, investigating product deviations and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough documentation and follow-up on all CAPA and non-conformance activities.
- Drive root cause identification activities to improve product quality through data analysis, corrective action and preventive measures with the team aboard and our manufacturing partners.
Supplier Quality Assurance:
- Establish and maintain quality standards with suppliers and manufacturing partners, with a focus on factories in China.
- Perform regular audits and quality assessments of suppliers to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Foster strong relationships with manufacturing partners, providing training and guidance on quality processes and compliance expectations.
Quality Planning and Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and implement quality plans that support production goals and maintain product integrity.
- Utilize statistical tools and quality metrics to track, analyze, and improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies where applicable.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Ensure all quality documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained per company policies and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and submit quality reports and documentation as needed for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices, ensuring the QMS adapts to evolving standards.
Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, to deliver market-leading fitness products and improvements to current offerings.
- Provide guidance and training on quality processes, standards, and requirements to internal teams and external partners.
- Miscellaneous projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in quality management, preferably within the medical device, fitness equipment, or aerospace industries.
- Demonstrated experience with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485) and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of CAPA processes, non-conformance reporting, and quality documentation.
- Proven ability to work with factories in Asia and manage supplier quality assurance programs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to resolving mechanical and manufacturing challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
- This position requires up to 10% travel, which may include some international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma certifications.
