Job Description

ICF provides a broad range of services related to Biomedical Informatics support for the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the DC–metro area. We are currently seeking an experienced, versatile Quality Assurance Analyst to provide support for NIH’s Common Data Elements (CDE) Repository, a platform that facilitates the discovery and reuse of common data elements across biomedical research studies.

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for managing, curating, or preserving clinical research data standards. This role requires an understanding of the research lifecycle and its importance to data curation, familiarity with information technologies, standards, or best practices prevalent in digital or data curation, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the client to define metadata governance standards, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Organize and participate in metadata requirements gathering sessions and in regular content meetings, interacting with other stakeholders involved with common data elements.
  • Review and evaluate requests for changes to existing metadata. Prepare new metadata proposals and metadata change requests.   Ensures that new metadata proposals and proposed metadata changes are complete and ready to circulate for wider review.
  • Check submitted records for quality, completeness, and consistency.
  • Monitor the outcome of standards updates to ensure that changes to terminology, value sets and other standards are properly reflected in content.
  • Educate others on use of metadata, vocabularies, information models and ontologies, as well as best practices for clinical research metadata management.
  • Help others find existing content that can be reused for creation of new protocols, measures and forms.
  • Use best and recommended practices to search for, create and maintain metadata as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer/Data Science, Archives/Digitization Management, or Library/Information Science.  Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or direct experience in managing, curating, or preserving research data and metadata.
  • Understands evolving clinical data industry standards (HL7, FHIR, CDISC)
  • Understands use of metadata needs for clinical data processes
  • Familiarity with clinical data and protocol driven research
  • Knowledgeable of XML and JSON data structure and manipulation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminology Services and terminologies (SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10, etc.)

Professional Skills:

  • Possesses positive attitudes and behaviors and contribute to a constructive team culture.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills and experience in client management, with sensitivity to complex organizational structures, varying cultures, and potentially conflicting goals among stakeholders.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$79,154.00 - $134,561.00
