The team 
You will be joining the agile teams comprised of dedicated and passionate developers, testers and business analysts who are directly involved with the Bank's of Canada’s role in the Financial Markets. It is mainly through the financial markets that the Bank's key policy rate influences interest rates and the exchange rate. This, in turn, helps the Bank achieve its monetary policy objectives.

What you will do  
You will help to validate and test a new system implementation which will manage critical operations such as Payments System Collateral and collateralized loan operations for the Bank. You will be working in an agile scrum team supporting Financial Markets, Banking & Payments portfolio.  
 In addition, 

  • You will get the experience being part of a unique opportunity implementing mission critical processes related to payment system collateral for Canada’s central Bank 
  • You will actively participate in program delivery and provide support for a new mission critical application, leveraging a commercial off the shelf (COTS) product 
  • Provide your subject matter expertise on the functional area or quality assurance expertise on enterprise applications to ensure the quality of deliverables and system enhancements  
  • Contribute to a learning and collaborative environment by sharing knowledge and learning 

 
What you need to succeed 
You are a team player, actively inviting diverse perspectives, fostering respectful working relations with colleagues. You have : 

  • experience in system analysis, production releases, system testing web applications and third-party integrations 
  • proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to complex systems and business areas  
  • demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in a structured manner, create meaningful documentation, and communicate findings clearly with involved teams 

 

Nice-to-have 

  • Knowledge of collateral functions such Payment System collateral, Collateralized loan operations 
  • Knowledge of large value transfer systems such Lynx, ACSS or Payments Canada Settlements 
  • Experience with Automation QA frameworks such Cypress and integration platforms such as Mulesoft will be an added advance 

 
Your education and experience 
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in applications development and systems integration. A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered

 

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve second their language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model

Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,346 to $108,643 (job grade 16)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
  • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
