Publishing Development Assistant

Description
Reporting into the Content Acquisition Director, the role will involve providing administrative support to a team of Publishing Development Managers. You will spend time conducting market research to support the evolution of our Gold open access and new launch programmes, as well as stakeholder mapping and deputising for the Publishing Development Managers as required. There will also be an opportunity to build deeper engagement with particular authors, editors, institutions or segments of the researcher community as this role develops to explore alternative forms of content.Location: We perform at our best when we feel trusted and are able to choose an approach to working that suits us best, which is why we are a remote-first company. Day to day we’ll trust you to:
- Provide administrative support for the Publishing Development Managers, including desk research to support Goals, mission campaigns and new journal launches
- Create stakeholder maps and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership
- Provide support for editor payments and contracting
- Support marketing and social media, arrange conference materials
- Support internal and external award programmes
- Contribute to the management of budgets
- Provide support for project work and effective cross-functional working to help to achieve department targets
- Ensure a great experience for our authors, editors and reviewers is at the centre of our work.
You’ll need to have:
Skills:- Good written and interpersonal skills
- Organizational skills
- Problem solving skills
- Desk research, data analysis
Knowledge:
- An overview of Emerald’s products
- Publishing experience, marketing experience or work experience within a commercial environment is advantageous
- Developing an understanding of publishing ethics and open research
- Willingness to acquire depth knowledge and familiarity with Emerald and third-party systems (Emerald Insight, Cognos, Power BI, RUBI, CRM, ScholarOne, Altmetric, and Dimensions, etc.)
- Working towards an understanding of the academic publishing environment
