The Drug Policy Research Center within RAND’s Social and Economic Well-Being Division is seeking mission-driven Psychedelics & Mental Health Policy Research Project Specialist to contribute to research, analysis, technical work, and project management at the intersection of drug policy and mental health. The successful candidate will engage in developing surveys, analyzing data, developing publications, and promoting research findings. Successful candidates will possess a combination of technical expertise, analytic capabilities, and project management experience.

This is a part-time, two-year term position with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.

Duties:

Successful candidates will work on multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed teams to provide both analytic and project support on tasks and lead the development of multiple surveys on psychedelic substances. This support may include completing literature reviews, cleaning and analyzing data, drafting technical reports and presentations, managing budgets and sub-contractors, as well as coordinating work among project team members and ensuring that teams meet deadlines.

Required:

• Demonstrated experience developing and analyzing survey data about psychedelics and other drugs

• Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality, rigorous research and policy analysis.

• Strong analytic skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical and policy issues into actionable recommendations.

• Superb organizational skills with experience managing research teams, budgets, contracts/subcontracts, and timelines.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

• Fluency with MS Office suite

Preferred:  

• Published articles and/or reports about drug policy.

• Strong knowledge about psychedelic substances and psychedelics policy.

• Interest in improving mental health outcomes, especially for veterans.

Education Requirements and Experience
Preferred PhD plus two years of relevant work experience, or Master’s degree plus seven years of relevant work experience required. Preferred degree in public policy analysis.

Salary Range:  $102,800-$156,500
