Salary: £65,000 - £83,000 depending on experience, plus benefits listed below.

Contract: Permanent

Ready to join a Property team that manages the delivery of our ambitious CAPEX programme? We’re looking for a Project Controller to join us and be part of a critical element of Star Pubs’ growth strategy.

 

About the role:

Leading a national team of 9 project managers, you’ll help them to deliver our ambitious capital investment programme, ensuring our CAPEX schemes are delivered safely, on time and on budget with maximum consumer impact.

As a key member of the Property Leadership team, you’ll work closely with our wider operations teams to manage our annual programme of approximately 100 investments across both our Leased & Tenanted and Managed Operator models. Important elements of the role will centre around health and safety, and effective management of suppliers and consultants you’ll have experience working effectively within an environment where there is a strong compliance culture, managing third parties, driving projects, and navigating the challenges that present themselves. 

 Role accountabilities:

  • Effective Leadership and Planning - Create an environment that truly drives high performance through effective management and development planning. Ensuring that the team of Property Managers deliver the annual investment programmes on time and to budget, through effective resource allocation and planning.
  • Targeting Consumers - Responsibility for enabling the most appropriate business ergonomics of the building, maximising the available retail space to attract target consumers and increase their occasions for visiting the pub, at the same time allowing the customer to deliver the retail offer efficiently.
  • Adding Value - Review and approve all capital development proposals to ensure that they add value both to SP&B and the lessee's business, agreeing scope of works and project budget with the operations team and other stakeholders, whilst assisting in obtaining SP&B and stakeholder approvals.
  • Exposing our brands - Deliver the ‘perfect bar’ designed to expose HUK brands to target consumers to maximise the rate of sale and profitability to SP&B and the customer

About You:

You’ll have an organised, open and collaborative way of working given the wide range of internal and external stakeholders you will be working with, great communication skills and a love of pubs. This is a fantastic role where you’ll have responsibility for helping your team deliver our market-leading Capex refurbishments programme.

 

Other key competencies and skills you may have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Property
  • Line management experience of high performing teams
  • Property qualification (preferred but not essential)
  • Significant Project Management experience
  • Stakeholder management & influencing
  • Rigorous control of budgets, cutting out bad cost and maximising our return on investment
