About the Role

Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Project Manager for their Virginia Practice within our National Medicaid Financing department (NMF) who will lead projects from initial concept through to successful completion. This role involves coordinating people and processes to ensure timely delivery, staying within budget, and achieving desired outcomes aligned with our objectives. The Project Manager interfaces with clients and consultants to create and manage project plans, facilitate and document project meetings and client interviews, and keep the team informed through regular status updates and reporting. Additionally, the Project Manager drives business process improvements, mitigates risks, and manages stakeholder relationships effectively.


Key responsibilities

  • PROJECT PLANING/MANAGING: Oversee and manage comprehensive project management to ensure all projects remain on track. Develop, manage, and monitor detailed project plans for larger projects using Smartsheet, including creating milestones, assigning resources, and allocating tasks. Adjust schedules and targets as project needs or financing change to ensure alignment with overall objectives. Performs the same tasks for internal projects and product development in addition to client facing engagements.
  • TEMPLATES & QUALITY CONTROL: Create, develop, and maintain project plan and document templates to standardize processes and improve efficiency. Perform rigorous quality control on projects throughout development to maintain high standards and ensure deliverables meet expectations.
  • COMMUNICATION: Serve as the primary point of contact and manage relationships with client project managers for larger projects. Manage and facilitate larger client consulting engagements, including coordinating and documenting client interviews, gathering requirements, developing personas, participating in dashboard design, capturing and managing action items and project tasks, managing communications, coordinating meetings, and keeping the team updated via reporting and status updates. Manage the practice calendar, including scheduling and maintaining all meetings with clients.
  • POLICY RESEARCH: Conducts periodic policy research as assigned to identify sources and materials that may be helpful to broader group efforts. Expected to work to continuously advance understanding of Medicaid policy, Medicaid supplemental payment programs, and other areas of health care policy and operations relevant to the team’s work. Policy research will include other projects as assigned consistent with the job description.
  • BUSINESS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Drive business process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and optimize project outcomes. This involves continuously identifying and implementing innovative solutions to streamline workflows and increase productivity. Utilize tools such as Smartsheet and other resources to develop and deploy new methods for improving business processes. Regularly analyze current processes, identify areas for improvement, and create customized solutions that address specific challenges. Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful adoption of these improvements and monitor their effectiveness over time.
  • TEAM COLLABORATION: Supports and collaborates with consultants and team members to ensure high-quality deliverables. Stays up to date on visualization best practices and seeks out resources and learning opportunities to bring innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Project Management required.
  • 3+ years previous experience working at a public health (government, private/non-profit) or health or healthcare organization (provider, payor, biotech, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven working experience in project management for multiple projects to a wide and diverse set of clients.
  • Knowledgeable and experience in Smartsheet and project management concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Proven expertise collaborating or working simultaneously on projects with other team members with a high degree of efficiency to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Critical Path, and Kanban to effectively manage and execute projects.
  • Proficiency in using Smartsheet for project planning, tracking, and reporting to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, for documentation, data analysis, and communication.
  • Familiarity with other project management tools such as Microsoft Project, or Asana for task management and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in using communication and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and Zoom to facilitate team communication and coordination.

Compensation & Benefits 


The anticipated salary range for candidates is $72,000/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $94,500/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 7% of annual salary. 


Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements.  Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave. The foregoing benefits and paid time off, including an employee’s eligibility therefore, will be controlled by applicable plan documents and Sellers Dorsey policy.
