Position Summary

In supporting the Washington University School of Medicine departments, manages the clinical requirements necessary for implementing and enhancing the information systems used for professional clinical practice. Serves as the facility project manager for clinical system implementations and upgrades. Serves as a liaison with WashU Information Technology and BJC/Wash U Epic EHR team in planning the design and implementation of clinical information systems.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads project teams and represents all Wash U clinical disciplines affected by the clinical workflow process design and implementation. 
  • Researches evidence-based best clinical workflow practices and innovative technology enablers for future workflow practices. 
  • Collaborates in development of project plans, project charters, manages issues and risk lists and assigns work to team members for clinical system implementations and upgrades. 
  • Creates and manages process improvement and quality assurance initiatives related to the clinical systems. 
  • Collaborates to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope. 
  • Coordinates multiple project installations throughout the organization. 
  • Develops educational materials for clinicians to include new practices and processes. 
  • May manage individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages and evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. 
  • May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five to ten years or more of experience. 
  • Two to five years of supervisory experience. 
  • Prior Epic experience and certification.
  • General knowledge of University and Medical School culture and practices. 
  • Project management experience. 
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to use influence techniques and participate in change management. 
  • Demonstrated effective Microsoft office suite ability including PowerPoint, Project.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.

Salary Range

$82,500.00 - $145,200.00 / Annually
