The Electrical Project Manager position is an in-office role located in Vancouver, BC and reports directly to the Operations Manager.

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing overall project performance, including the management of costs, schedule, qualities, and overall project status, while maintaining excellent relationships with trades, subcontractors, and clients. They will keep the Operations Manager informed of questions, progress, discrepancies in project process, and any other issues which would impact the plan and schedule. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, plan and execute electrical projects in accordance with Corporate Policy, Construction Business Processes and National Project Management Manual.
  • Co-ordinate and manage various small & large projects
  • Oversee cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance on projects
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships.
  • Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Assist/Lead with the material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs as required
  • Hire and supervise the activities of union labour, subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Implement and maintain Company and legislated Health and Safety Programs, including Tool Box meetings, safety procedures, and compliance to PPE
  • Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above
  • Responsible for Key Result Area’s (KRA’s) assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • An electrical engineering degree or completion of college diploma/program in construction engineering technology, and or several years of field experience as a qualified Journeyman Electrician (or combination of the above)

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years of experience as an Electrical Project Manager would be an asset
  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry (preferably experience with commercial/institutional projects), including experience as a supervisor or field superintendent would be an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of:
    • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
    • Project structural design interpretation
    • Business operations processes
    • Organization and time management
  • Intermediate user of:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
    • JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system is an asset
  • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
    • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
    • Business operations processes
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Occasional travel to various local sites or clients is required to undertake above responsibilities

The expected salary range for this role is between $90,000 and $105,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
