Introduction
The PMST Projects Team is an integral part of the Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team, providing a flexible service to a variety of internal customers. Managing maintenance projects from concept to completion, the team’s remit spans asset replacement, fabric preservation, and small projects that add value across the estate. Working in close collaboration with stakeholders, the team delivers high-quality work to support Parliament in a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
The Role
As a Project Leader (Mechanical Engineering Bias), you will oversee a variety of maintenance projects on the Parliamentary Estate, typically valued between £50k and £500k. You will manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with specifications, design standards, CDM regulations, and financial requirements, while meeting the needs of the end user.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing project briefs, coordinating design work, and engaging with stakeholders.
- Managing design, procurement, and construction phases, ensuring quality, budget, and programme adherence.
- Administering contracts, supervising works, and overseeing site safety.
- Ensuring handover includes commissioning, training, and complete documentation.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong project management skills with a focus on mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of design standards, statutory regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- The ability to innovate and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
