Job Summary

Mazzetti is seeking a seasoned Project Lead & Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences and leading high-impact healthcare projects in the Atlanta area. This role involves technical leadership, client engagement, and project management responsibilities, contributing to the success of our large-scale healthcare projects locally and throughout the southeast region. As a trusted consultant, you will manage mechanical engineering processes, represent Mazzetti's expertise, and ensure projects meet and exceed client expectations. This position serves as a springboard for other leadership opportunities within Mazzetti, offering a path to further career growth. 


Work Location

This hybrid position is based in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The Atlanta-based candidate will primarily work remotely but will be required to visit the project sites occasionally. We are also open to candidates based in North or South Carolina, and candidates based in these locations must be willing to travel to Atlanta approximately twice a month.


Your Tasks Will Involve


Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Provide technical expertise and oversight for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring high-quality design and execution.
  • Lead the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems for healthcare and mission-critical facilities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of building codes, energy standards, and sustainability best practices to drive innovative solutions.
  • Oversee project quality control and contribute to peer reviews to ensure technical excellence.

Client & Business Development

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, helping to shape solutions that meet their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to pursue new opportunities in the Atlanta and Carolina regions.
  • Participate in proposal development, interviews, and client presentations to showcase Mazzetti’s expertise.

Team Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and professional growth.
  • Work closely with other Mazzetti-ites to align technical best practices and contribute to the firm’s thought leadership.

Travel Requirements: 10-15% for Atlanta based candidates, up to 50% for candidates based in the Carolinas.


Requirements

Expertise And Abilities You Will Contribute

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and HVAC design
  • Some healthcare facility systems experience required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and the ability to obtain licensure in Georgia or the Carolinas.
  • Experience leading complex mechanical engineering projects from concept through construction.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and healthcare-specific design requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage with clients and internal teams effectively.
  • Prior experience working with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: The typical salary range for a Project Lead & Senior Mechanical Engineer in Atlanta, GA / North/South Carolina is $155,000 - $175,000+. We are committed to equitable pay and will evaluate final compensation based on relevant experience and skills in alignment with internal equity and market data.
