Job Description: Project Estimation & Controls Specialist

Principle Duties and Requirements:

  • Rely upon knowledge and experience to develop new standardized means for estimation including templates, ways of working, and industry & historical cost databases.
  • Reviews and understands content of project documents to determine scope of work, schedule milestones, and required pricing elements for inclusion within the estimate and schedule.
  • Analyzes schedule and cost trends and deviations, identifying potential problem areas, and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Performs cost escalation forecasts; monitors construction markets to identify price trends for material, labor and equipment costs. Analyzes market trends and advises leadership and project managers on possible implications of time and cost overages.
  • Mentors project managers and construction control representatives in effective cost estimating techniques and methods.
  • Provides oversight and serves as a reviewer, troubleshooter and advisor for project managers, subject matter experts, and construction representatives on a diverse range of issues.
  • Creates and utilizes standardized tools and processes to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates of project cost and schedule, including reviewing material completed by others.
  • Administer the Capex Portal, an SAP interface for project submittal and approval.
  • Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers for alignment of estimated resources and duration represented in project estimate to achieve milestones identified within project schedule.
  • Assists in compiling historical cost data for projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Required: Four-year relevant Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years or more project controls work on engineering and construction projects, focused on estimation, but also including planning, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports OR ten (10) years or more of relevant Project Cost Estimation experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, Experience with SAP a plus.
  • Preferred: Experienced setting up and monitoring complex project estimates and developing estimation tools and resources.  
  • Willingness to travel and visit project sites.
  • Self-directed organization and prioritization skills to execute work accurately, handle multiple priorities, and analyze reports and trend activities.
  • Excels in a team setting by clearly communicating project information and by listening effectively and inviting responses.

When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.

The pay range for this position is: $78,700 - $108,700.
