WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.
Note: This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (3-4) months.
Position Summary:
Serve as a key member of the Media Monitoring group to assist with the daily gathering, distribution, and analysis of print, online, and broadcast coverage to internal and external constituents Track media coverage of all four leagues, teams, players, and industry to support the Communications Group's work of rapidly and effectively responding to priority issues in the news.
Major Responsibilities:
- Tracks media coverage of all leagues, teams, players and relevant industries to allow for the Communications Group to rapidly and effectively respond to priority issues in the news
- Helps lead the creation of Top News, Flash Report and The Morning Tip-Off for distribution to league executives
- Contributes to the creation of daily documents for the league office and teams, including Today’s News, WNBA News and the daily X report
- Develops and distributes issue tracking reports to support the Crisis Communications function and properly inform league executives of developing issues
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3-5 experience in Communications, Journalism, Sports or related fields
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Familiarity with key sports, business and general news publications and media members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with a wide array of social media platforms, including X, Instagram and TikTok
- Experience with media monitoring platforms like Cision, MediaMax and Memo
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely, accurate manner
- Comfort and professionalism needed to communicate with the department’s senior leaders
Salary Range: $65,000
