The Department of Medicine is seeking an experienced Project Director to help shape and drive the Institute’s global health research portfolio, with a focus on critical issues such as non-communicable diseases, health systems, social justice, poverty reduction, equity, marginalized and vulnerable groups, women and gender, migration, civil society and non-governmental actors..etc. In this impactful role, the Project Director will work closely with the Principal Investigator to advance global health initiatives, oversee research projects, manage multi-year agendas, secure grants, and co-author academic publications. The position also involves leading research collaborations across UCLA and with institutions worldwide, supervising research staff, grants management, IRB support, and representing the institution at key conferences. The Project Director will also drive institutional and strategy development, manage research projects, oversee grants, and co-author academic publications. They will collaborate with the PI to advance the global health agenda, develop programming, lead research meetings, and build partnerships with institutions worldwide.The ideal candidate will bring expertise in research management, strategic development, and academic publishing, with a passion for advancing global health equity. This position offers a unique opportunity to co-teach an annual global health course, build high-impact partnerships, and contribute to transformative health policy research.
Annual range: $83,800-$179,400

Required:- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Experience with Global Health programs/studies, including but not limited to the Lancet Commission on Cancer & Health Systems, Lancet Commission on Gender-Based Violence & Research Hub on Global Access to Palliative Care & Pain Relief
- Ability to work independently and also have interpersonal skills to work with teams, provide training, and supervise staff1+ years’ experience of supervising laboratory personnel and operations
- Exceptional writing skills to produce wide range of documents and deliverables
- Experience communicating effectively and professionally and working with a variety of internal and external partners, including UCLA administrators, outside funders, policy makers and community representatives required
- Strong organizational skills to successfully work on and track complex programs involving short deadlines and multiple tasks, in coordination with multiple teams to achieve program/project mission and goals required
- Working knowledge of program/project development, evaluation, creating datasets, financial management and reporting, research principles including CITI training, grant writing and proposal submission, University procedures and policies, program/project related federal and state regulations
- Ability to seek out and learn new policies, procedures, and software to advance the mission of the program/project
- Ability to train new program/project managers and other staff within and external to the unit
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or 3-5 years of experience
