Purpose of Position

The Project Coordinator provides project coordination to grant activities of the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program and other related programs. This position works with grant staff and with North Dakota’s 37 critical access hospitals (CAHs) and rural health clinics (RHCs), state agencies, and various healthcare entities at a local, regional and national level.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform program coordination activities.
    • Work directly with program directors, program coordinators, project assistant, communications manager, and administrative assistant; and with partner organizations in North Dakota including all hospitals, clinics, state agencies, public health, and various healthcare entities.
    • Coordinate program pieces of Flex related activities
    • Coordinate and conduct technical assistance session(s).
    • Work with program staff to conduct outreach activities; includes planning local, regional, and statewide events.
    • Correspond with rural hospital administrators/staff regarding grant deadlines, as well as programmatic and financial reporting.
    • Assist with the development of survey tools using Qualtrics.
    • Coordinate and contribute to the collection of data for annual or periodic reports which may include but is not limited to financial status of grant program, use of program services, and outreach activities.
    • Serve as a technical assistant resource along with grant PI to CAHs and RHCs for quality improvement hospital reporting.
    • Work with statewide partners representing the grant program and UND CRH at meetings. May assist with scheduling and note-taking as needed.
    • Assist with yearly grant proposal submissions.
    • Actively participate and make recommendations during all phases of the project. 
  • Coordinate project specific communication and public relations activities.
    • Correspond by phone, email, and in writing with government agencies, organizations, and individuals in a professional manner.
    • Organize program activity data collection effort, oversee input into Center for Rural Health tracking system.
    • Maintain current webpage and virtual library information.
    • Coordinate the composition, editing, and finalization of project specific communications.
    • Oversee the distribution of program materials and correspondence.
    • Participate in the development of high-quality technical reports and other grant program documentation.
    • Coordinate meeting activities with Project Assistant and other staff. 
  • Support special project assignments and meetings.
    • Apply creativity and logic to locate specific information and to research issues.
    • Attend CRH departmental meetings. Participate in internal committees and actively contribute input to the overall operation of the Center for Rural Health.
    • Assist supervisor in the application and communication of program processes, guidelines, and policies.
    • Assist/coordinate special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of experience working in project coordination or program development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience using videoconferencing platforms such as Zoom, WebEx (or similar)
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer a major in education/teaching, communications, healthcare administration, health-related field.
  • Experience working in or with healthcare systems, and organizations.
  • Knowledge of rural health dynamics.
  • Experience working with rural communities.
  • Experience organizing, tracking, and writing programmatic reports.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and presenting.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people.
