Leidos is hiring a Project Assistant to join our team remotely. This position will support the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). NETL is a multi-disciplinary, scientific, and technical-oriented national laboratory that produces technological solutions for America’s energy challenges by driving innovation and delivering solutions for an environmentally sustainable and prosperous energy future. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to management, including scheduling meetings and maintaining communications.
  • Facilitate communication between project team members and leadership by relaying messages, distributing information, and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain various records and documentation in support of the project.
  • Assist in the organization and facilitation of meeting planning, coordination, logistics, recording of minutes, and post meeting support.
  • Review and approve customized reports for completeness, for varying audiences, and ensure client deliverables are of high quality and provided on time.
  • Provide support with process and system improvements by working with team and support staff as needed.
  • Track and report weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics, as well as responding to ad hoc metric requests.
  • Support management in checking deliverables for consistency and standards and coordinate multiple deliverables and assignments concurrently to meet deadlines.
  • Work with the project teams to prepare, update, and manage project documentation including workflow processes, templates, checklists, tracking logs, etc.
  • Perform duties that include participating in regular project meetings, administering routine correspondence and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop branding products and graphics that effectively communicate and enhance the project’s visual identity.
  • Coordinate with web developers to update website content.
  • Coordinate speakers for webinars, schedule and monitor them and publish information to workspace.

Required Education, Experience & Other:

  • High school diploma with 5+ years’ experience (Bachelors degree preferred)
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, processes and lifecycles, and software/tools.
  • The complexity of information to be managed will require excellent organization and documentation skills, attention to detail, ability to troubleshoot and resolve administrative problems, and ability to quickly respond to inquiries.
  • General understanding of industry practices and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills are required as this position will require extensive interface with all levels of the federal client and potential collaborative partners.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks while maintaining time management.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements for gaining access to work on NETL program.
  • U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a university, national laboratory, or federal research and development environment.
  • Strong coordination skills while balancing multiple assignments.
  • Familiarity with granting permission to access a website and posting content, including brief videos.

NETL is developing technologies to manage carbon across the full life cycle and enabling environmental sustainability for all Americans.  Highly skilled researchers at NETL’s three research sites – Albany, Oregon; Morgantown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – conduct a broad range of research activities that support DOE’s mission to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States. For this role and the right candidate, telework may be considered.  As a core member of the National Risk Assessment Partnership (NRAP) and Science-Informed Machine Learning to Accelerate Real-time (SMART) Decisions in Subsurface Applications teams, you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing a wide range of tasks for projects primarily focused on data acquisition and preservation, computational sciences, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Salary Range for this position: $65,000 to $75,000

Pay Range:

Pay Range $49,400.00 - $89,300.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
