Summary:As a Project Analyst – Consultant, you will provide high quality consulting services relating to property restoration, property defects, casualty, and losses of significance for YA’s customers, which include insurance companies, third-party adjusters and independent businesses and insureds. YA Project Analyst - Consultants are responsible for working independently on small projects or on a team in cases of larger losses in an effort to manage each of our clients’ business and operations in defining and controlling costs associated with damaged structures. This role works directly with internal consultants and external contractors to review and assess project related invoices to ensure accuracy and scope of projects. In this role you will evaluate the requirements for materials, labor, overhead, etc. and ensure accurate billing and timely completion of tasks. By comprehending the project requirements, the Project Analyst – Consultant will accurately estimate the time needed for completion and associated costs.  They will address any financial discrepancies with clients and internal team members, using this information to devise a more efficient, cost-effective, and timely approach to project completion. This is a remote position that may require up to 10% traveling.  Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Schedules and conducts inspections and field assessments to evaluate structure and property damage for clients.
  • Operates on behalf of clients to monitor and manage timelines, expenses, and other factors critical to operational efficiency and cost management during all phases of construction.
  • Works independently in reviewing project invoices to identify any discrepancies related to project requirements and provides the analysis to lead consultants, contractors and clients.
  • Transfers financial data from client invoices to various formats such as PDFs and spreadsheets, detailing applicable line-by-line items.
  • Examines project-related invoices to ensure all charges align with project scope and guidelines.
  • Submits analysis and findings to the insurance provider or appointed independent adjuster.
  • Develops and presents adjusted project plans based on findings, including project recommendations.
  • Researches specialized invoices for missing details related to labor, overhead, materials, and project requirements.
  • Evaluates multiple contractor invoices concurrently across various projects.
  • Negotiates with contractors to adjust line items for more efficient project completion and potential cost reduction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in accounting, invoice analysis, or a related field.
  • Mitigation industry experience is a plus.
  • Financial litigation experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in excel.
  • Experience with Power BI and Power Query is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills required.
