Your new role: We are looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and self-motivated professional to join DCAs Change and Transformation Department that can lead and support service design and improvement programmes across the organisation. You will have previous experience in programme, project or change management, within a transformational environment.

You will have a proven track record of involvement in the design and delivery of measurable improvements to service quality and operational efficiency in a complex, patient centred, service environment.

The purpose of the Programme Lead role is to advise, lead, facilitate and ensure the successful delivery of priority projects and programmes across the DCA portfolio. These programmes and projects will generally deliver large business impacting changes either as part of a programme or as a stand-alone initiative. On occasions there will be the requirement to act as a Project Manager on some of the initiatives or smaller projects.

Working in an exciting, complex, and changing environment, we require a problem solver that is willing to take on responsibility, drive change, and be able to establish processes in line with the strategy of the company.

Salary Bracket: £55,000 - £60,000

Requirements

Key accountabilities:

      • Programme and Project
        • Lead, manage and provide expert support to complex transformational programmes or projects, which are to be delivered on time and to the agreed quality, with a relentless focus on improving outcomes and benefits realisation
        • Planning and designing the programmes of work, proactively monitoring progress, resolving issues, and initiating appropriate corrective action
        • Defining, establishing, and delivering the programme's governance arrangements
        • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programmes
        • Managing the programme's budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses
        • Ensuring the delivery of new products or services from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, timescales and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements
        • Managing third party contributions to the programme
        • Managing communications with all stakeholders and the internal communications team
        • Build strong business relationships with key internal programme and departmental stakeholders
        • Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
        • Managing risks to the programme's successful outcome
        • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise
        • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals
        • Ensuring that we have and maintain necessary programme assets such as a central and updated risk log and action tracker etc
        • Supporting any additional project status reporting that may be required (e.g. to our Board, Leadership Team, etc)
        • As a member of the Project Management Office, embed and support the execution of project management methodologies and tools across the company
        • Building systems and processes, tools, and training to embed a PM structure internally
        • Embedding new approach into existing projects
        • Engage in progress review meetings including support for preparation of briefing materials, problem solving and risk management

      • Transformation and Change
        • Working with the Head of Transformation and Change, develop a clear and agreed understanding of the transformation challenges and change requirements
        • Leading a change management process internally
        • Working with the business change manager or equivalent on the transition to the new business as usual position
        • Mentoring and supporting SME within the business, collaborating with them to identify how services could be transformed to provide improved patient outcomes and experience, to be more efficient/productive, and to reduce costs
        • Contribute and share of knowledge and best practice, as well as development of methodologies and toolkits that enable more consistent delivery of transformational change and continuous improvement across DCA

Experience  

Must-Have:

      • Able to work on several projects at the same time and prioritise effectively
      • Good general business acumen (preferable experience in data-rich analysis-driven organizations)
      • Ability to build strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders
      • Creative, proactive and eager to learn
      • Experience in health care projects required; experience in management consulting would be an asset
      • At least 3 + years’ experience in managing large-scale projects
      • Project management methodology experience required
      • Excellent problem solver to analyse performance, identify issues/opportunities, design and implement pragmatic solutions
      • Very good communication skills both written and spoken
      • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
      • The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
      • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programmes
      • Sound business case development and approvals skills
      • Good understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties
      • Good knowledge of programme and project management methods
      • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
      • The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
      • Ability to transform complexity into simplicity for different audiences
      • Ability to embrace new challenges and deal with a level of ambiguity
      • Resourceful with initiative and a positive 'can-do’ attitude
      • Ability to work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
