In this position, you will be part of TASC’s Center for Health and Justice (CHJ), which provides training, technical assistance, and research to advance evidence-based practice at the intersection of public health and justice, and inform public policy. CHJ partners with program leaders, policymakers, and researchers across the country and offers solutions to improve communities’ public health and safety.


We are currently looking for a full-time: Program Manager – Deflection TTA

Starting at 52,000 – contingent upon experience, education, etc.


Summary: This position is responsible for the delivery of consulting, training, and technical assistance as part of the US Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP) National Deflection TA Center. The program manager, in collaboration with National Deflection TA Center partners and TA Center staff, coordinates development and delivery of all consulting and TTA activities for Center grantees to ensure that action plans, individual TTA plans, goals, and milestones are fulfilled. This individual will work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners, grantees, BJA, and other stakeholder organizations to provide subject matter expertise on first responder deflection and pre-arrest diversion. This position is eligible for remote work if residency is outside the state of Illinois.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage consulting/technical assistance (TA) and training projects designed to build first responder deflection initiatives, create public safety-to-community behavioral health linkages, reduce recidivism, and support community recovery.
  • Provide high-quality TA, including on-site and remote consulting, education, and coaching to deflection initiatives and COSSUP grantees.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations both virtually and in-person to internal and external audiences, including at national conferences.
  • Develop training content and other project-related materials such as educational handouts, worksheets, publications, guidebooks, reports, webinars, and workshop presentations.
  • Ensure timely completion and delivery of quality contract deliverables, consulting, and related services and products through coordination with CHJ staff, consultants, and external partners.
  • Collaborate extensively with consulting clients, project partners and funders, cultivating positive, productive relationships and providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop project documentation, narratives, and budgets for consulting and training projects and contracts, and provide regular updates through reporting tools and in team meetings.
  • Ensure privacy of confidential information and materials, including proprietary business and protected client matters.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, criminology from an accredited college/university
  • or related field. Master’s Degree preferred in related field.
  • At least three to five years’ experience in relevant fields, including one or more years of
  • experience in the field of deflection and pre-arrest diversion (including co-responder and
  • community responder models)
  • Understanding and knowledge of delivering training and technical assistance
  • Strong project and financial management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with diverse partners
  • Works autonomously and takes initiative to lead consulting delivery and product development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate and attend to “big picture” issues while managing detailed, day-to-day
  • concerns
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to prepare written materials for various audiences, including reports and correspondences
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in an extremely fast paced environment 

Travel

  • Ability to travel and provide training and technical assistance on-site up to 25% of work schedule,
  • including 1 to 2 trips a month (including overnights) throughout the United States. Travel may also
  • include evening/weekend hours.

The agency currently offers hybrid work schedules for instate (Illinois) employees that combines in-office

and remote work. 


Employees are required to report to the work site three days per week with the option to work up to two days remotely. 


This position is eligible for fully remote work if residency is outside the state of Illinois.
