Position Summary:

 

The Manager Program Management is responsible for managing a program and/or project to ensure it delivers the expected Business Case to the Business Sponsors. This includes delivering the project on time, on budget, on scope, and with the desired quality. The program may have a clearly defined scope upfront or may require dynamic and iterative scoping, delivery, and change management (agile program management). The Manager Program Management leads and drives the discovery process through to design with the Assembly Team of Business resources. They then build the Business Case with comprehensive budget planning for final submission and approval.


The Manager Program Management is responsible for structuring the program/project, planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing it. They ensure the quality and integrity of the information across the enterprise and take accountability for the execution of sub-projects/activities to deliver the desired outcome. They manage program/project level risks, quality, and procurement. They lead the program/project team and serve as the direct point of contact for program/project level resources, including project managers of sub-projects within the program. This responsibility applies across the business.


Additionally, the Manager Program Management may consult on other initiatives by helping with the discovery process through to Business Case creation/submission and project structuring. They may also conduct Quality Assurance Project Evaluation and assist in rescue/recovery efforts for initiatives needing help. They may lead a team to drive the execution of programs/projects in support of the Nestle Health Science business portfolio and initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • The discovery process of the initiative has been completed and aligned with Business sponsors.
  • Program/Project structure has been established, defining projects and implementing agile project methodologies as appropriate.
  • Program/Project governance has been established, with committed sponsors.
  • Management of interdependencies between projects/activities within the program/project scope.
  • Direct or approve the use of professional service providers/external suppliers and determine their role according to the sourcing strategy.
  • Milestones-based program/project plan has been established, delivered through incremental releases/achievements. Value delivery plan created in parallel.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications, and reporting.
  • Program/Project budgeted and actively monitored.
  • Projects initiated, program monitored and controlled, risks assessed, proactive anticipation of issues/risks, and program/project health.
  • Lead reviews with executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify program needs and changes, and direct the development of appropriate approaches to address them.
  • Projects execution monitored, business case measured (optional).
  • Program/project closure.
  • Team and resources managed in line with company Business principles and values.
  • Continuous learning and development of soft skills in relationship management, crisis management, critical thinking, communication, facilitation skills, and staying up to date with the latest developments and methodologies in project management.
  • Various measurements and performance indicators, such as completed design scope document, comprehensive budget plan, signed-off business case, flawless execution, approved suppliers/service providers, stakeholder map and communications/reporting plan, signed-off budget, RAID log, change control log, progress status reports, readiness assessments, agile documentations, business case measurement, signed-off program/project closure, timely PDP input to line managers, etc.
  • Stakeholders include Business Sponsors, Program/Project Sponsors, Global/Region Business Solution Managers, Business Relationship Managers, Line Managers of program/project level resources, Architects and wider IT community, Market GLOBE Managers and Program/Project team, Business project team, PMO Team, 3rd-party service and solution providers, and Finance Team.

 

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in project/program management is required.
  • Learning & development and/or instructional design experience is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills, including aptitude for working with ability to work with various stakeholders, including senior leaders, site leaders, and frontline employees.
  • Ability to influence and drive change in direction, utilizing data, insights, and effectiveness measures.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 30%).
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to express complex concepts in simplified terms.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the demands and requirements of a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, ability to work on multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong financial aptitude in managing budgets and performing cost/benefit analysis.
  • Strong creative thinking skills with an emphasis on developing innovative solutions to complex problems that may not have one clear answer, ability to identify alternatives and temporary solutions.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with a proven ability to analyze/interpret functional and technical details.
  • Ability to lead teams and coach team members in a matrix organization without a formal direct reporting relationship to drive for timely results and high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to set clear expectations and hold cross-functional teams accountable to all deliverables.

Critical Experiences:

  • Advanced leadership skills and experience with an end-to-end mindset ownership and driving a proactive approach to ensuring successful program/project deliverables.
  • Managing cultural diversity and respect for various cultures, understanding how to work effectively with a variety of cultures.
  • Expert stakeholder management in a project/program management role.
  • Increasing development of business intimacy and business language to effectively engage and demonstrate business understanding and priority with the Business sponsor and Business project team.
  • Expert ability to manage through ambiguity by proactively anticipating issues, needs, concerns, and risks, leveraging program/project methodologies to ensure alignment to goals and objectives while adhering to scope, budget, timeline, and quality.
  • Expert facilitation skills and critical thinking skills to effectively manage and resolve issues and conflicts in a cross-functional environment, able to lead teams and the program/project through crisis management.
  • Expert ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and dynamically prioritize and re-prioritize work for themselves and the program/project team as appropriate.
  • Advanced experience working in a matrix organization in a global environment with virtual teams, including external partners.
  • Advanced development of influencing skills and ability to leverage them in interactions at all levels of the matrix organization to ensure program/project execution moves forward towards successful delivery.
  • Experience in managing change/transitions. Substantial consulting leadership experience is a plus.

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of lead and develop people methods.
  • Ability to manage resources and budget for a distributed unit.
  • Knowledgeable in PM methodology (e.g., Agile, PMI®, Prince 2 Agile®, Lean Start-up, KANBAN, SDM, D&C, SCRUM).
  • Certified in MoV®, MoP®, MsP® or equivalent.
  • Training and knowledge in compulsory courses for Program Management, Procurement Management, and Portfolio Management.
  • Training and knowledge further expanded to cover elective Program Management, leadership, and change management courses as per development plan and program needs.

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $115,000.00 to $140,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
