Program Financial Analyst

FHI 360 is seeking a Program Financial Analyst to support the Contraceptive Research, Development, and Introduction (CRDI) team in their global work to develop innovative, safe, and affordable contraceptive methods. In this role, the analyst will prepare project and fiscal year budgets and forecast research study expenses. Responsibilities include conducting financial data analyses, providing budget analyses for project funds, and preparing compliance reports for funding agencies. The analyst will also analyze performance trends, model complex business decisions, and track performance. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with Operations Support to create and revise financial systems for detailed tracking of departmental and research study budgets.

Accountabilities:

  • Assists with monitoring budgets, analyzing budgets and expenditure data, and produces monthly and ad-hoc financial reports for projects.

  • Interacts regularly with project leaders and subcontract managers to resolve problems or issues associated with monthly expenditures and project budgets.

  • Analyzes data and summarizes information into presentable reports/forms

  • Supports technical staff in the development and management of procurements including purchase orders, consultant agreements, and subawards.

  • Manages the payment process for all project invoices

  • Responds to inquiries and follow up requests in an efficient manner.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both in oral and written form 

  • Provides oversight of accounting procedures and policies (GAAP)

  • Utilize and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures to ensure compliance and project goals are met.

  • Coordinate and assist management with preparing, monitoring, tracking, forecasting, and staffing departmental budgets.

  • Coordinates with technical staff to negotiate site budgets for research projects.

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to management for fiscal control procedures and practices.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Related Field.

  • 8+ years of progressively responsible financial analysis and pricing experience in a government contracting environment. Prior experience working within an NGO preferred.

  • Prior experience working with USAID- or Gates-funded projects is preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), budgeting and fiscal control theories and practices.

  • Knowledge of automated accounting software, database spreadsheets, and management information systems.

  • Demonstrated budget monitoring and general ledger skills.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.

  • Ability to motivate, negotiates, and works well with others.

  • Typical office environment.

  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift or move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

  • Less than 5%

The expected US-based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidate FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget. 

 

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

 

US Based Hiring Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000

International hiring ranges will differ based on location.
