Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) is a division of the Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. Advanced Academic Programs
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) seeks a Program Coordinator to teach in and provide administrative support to the Writing program. The Program Coordinator position is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 12-month renewable faculty position with the academic title of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The Program Coordinator will have significant interaction/collaboration with the Program Director, and other Program Coordinators; and will report to the Program Director for Writing. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience teaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds. The Program Coordinator will have the following faculty and administrative responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities
- Teaching six graduate courses per year, including the preparation for and time spent in the classroom (online or onsite)
- Advising students from diverse backgrounds
- Providing innovative leadership for curriculum design and new course development to ensure the growth and delivery of the programs
- University service
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in adjunct faculty hiring and development
- Assist in the admissions process
- Assist in the planning of onsite and/or remote events and seminars
- Assist with alumni outreach and social media
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Writing or in a relevant field such as English or Journalism
- One to three years of teaching experience online and/or at the graduate level
- Publication of at least one book or comparable publication record in literary journals and magazines
- The ability to teach a wide variety of Writing courses, including fiction workshops.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Writing or in a relevant field such as English
- Publication of one novel
- Four or more years of teaching experience online and/or at the graduate level
- Four or more years of work experience in the field as a writer
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and multiple deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience managing a degree program

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
