Ohio State Online | Distance EducationThe State Authorization Program Coordinator supports maintaining compliance with federal, state, and professional licensing board regulations that impact educational activities offered across state lines. Under the direction of the State Authorization Program Manager, this individual will develop expertise and maintain a working knowledge of evolving federal, state, professional licensing board, and foreign distance education regulations and their impact on Ohio State educational activities.
The primary function of this role is to research state professional licensure regulations and verify whether completion of an Ohio State University licensure program meets the education requirements for licensure in each jurisdiction. In doing so, this individual will communicate confidently and concisely with state licensing agencies regarding regulatory requirements, draft required disclosure statements, and communicate with university stakeholders about the impact of regulations on Ohio State programs. In performing this work, this individual should be able to identify process efficiencies and determine the best process for completing this work in a timely, but highly accurate process. In addition, this individual is responsible for analyzing and interpreting statutes and regulations and then making a recommendation for how to best ensure compliance with Ohio State’s academic programs.
The individual will also facilitate solution-focused meetings with university stakeholders and will work to establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They will gather program information and student data, maintain a shared document storage system, and submit authorization applications and reports. The individual will also support annual data reporting processes related to NC-SARA and other regulatory agencies. This position will be integral in the communication and outreach efforts by drafting articles and stakeholder updates, participating in the State Authorization Advisory Committee meetings, along with arranging and hosting stakeholder meetings. The Program Coordinator will participate in regional and national state authorization network events and engage in professional development opportunities.
A successful candidate in this role is independent, organized, and able to execute and document professional licensure research; proactively manage and seek guidance on projects; clearly and simply communicate complex information via written and verbal delivery; and foster positive relationships with all stakeholders. Additionally, this role will provide direct support to Ohio State Online as a team by completing other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Essential Duties
60% -- Seek and maintain compliance: Develop expertise and working knowledge of distance education regulations and their impact on Ohio State activities; research and verify state professional licensing board requirements and educational prerequisites for licensure; communicate with state agencies regarding regulatory requirements, draft disclosures, communicate requirements to university stakeholders; gather program information and student data; maintain shared document storage system; assist with submission of reports or authorization applications.
25% -- Stakeholder engagement: Engage and educate stakeholders about state authorization requirements, including drafting articles and stakeholder updates; meet with stakeholders; facilitate solution-focused meetings with university stakeholders, establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
10% -- Professional Development: Participate in regional and national state authorization network workshops, conference, webinars, calls, and other professional development opportunities.
5% -- Other duties as assigned: Accomplish other duties as assigned for the betterment of the organization and the university; special projects; direct support of Distance Education.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree. At least two years of demonstrated experience reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing state and federal regulations in any field;
Familiarity with best practices in effective legal research and writing: ability to describe basic research steps and formulate appropriate questions;
High level of organization and attention to detail;
Strong writing skills and the ability to convey complex information using clear, simple language.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desired: Paralegal Certification.
At least one year of experience in higher education or in a compliance role.
Additional Information:
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $55,100 - $59,081. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
