Product Manager - Senior Product Manager St. Jude Cloud

St. Jude is seeking a Senior Product Manager or Product Manager, preferably with a background in bioinformatics or life sciences, to lead the development and execution of product strategies for key scientific and data-sharing initiatives within the St. Jude Cloud project. This position plays a pivotal role in driving the success of multiple applications designed to facilitate large-scale pediatric cancer data sharing, research collaboration, and data visualization. As a product manager, you will partner with scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to deliver innovative tools and platforms that empower the scientific community. Your work will directly contribute to advancing pediatric cancer research through improved data accessibility and product usability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with identifying technical solutions to simple domain problems and independently implement those solutions.
  • Actively support and participate in the software development lifecycle management process (e.g., software coding, testing, debugging, documenting, installation).
  • Independently perform routine troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational work on deployed systems.
  • Remain current in and actively contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new methods and technologies.
  • Actively utilize available resources to broaden understanding within the scientific domain.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Define and effectively communicate the product vision and strategy to align teams and drive product success.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (scientists, bioinformaticians, engineers, designers, etc.) to design, develop, and launch products.
  • Manage the product backlog, prioritizing features and tasks based on strategic objectives and user needs.
  • Regularly conduct user research to inform product decisions.
  • Work with product designers to create design documents and test prototypes with users.
  • Gather, analyze, and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and users to improve the product.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and guide strategic decisions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product milestones, managing risks and dependencies along the way.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for product-related communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate product launches and ensure proper alignment across teams.
  • Monitor product performance post-launch and iterate based on analytics and user feedback.
  • Lead education and support for products, through the creation of documentation and other training materials (product tours, tutorial videos, etc.) and through direct user support as needed.

Preferred

Proficiency with data science tools and visualizations (e.g., R, Jupyter Notebooks, Plotly).

Strong understanding of genomics, bioinformatics, or other related scientific fields.

Knowledge of cloud platforms and scientific workflow development.

Startup or small team experience with flexible roles.

Experience with product analytics tools. 

Preferred Experience

1+ years of experience (3+ years for Senior Product Manager) as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Program Manager, or similar role in life sciences, ideally within a biotech startup and/or a small agile team environment.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Strongly Preferred

Familiarity with data science tools and visualizations (e.g., R, Jupyter Notebooks, Plotly).

Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

User-focused mindset with the ability to translate feedback into product improvements.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Product Manager - Senior Product Manager St. Jude Cloud.
