We collaborate and work closely with other designers, copywriters, product managers, developers, marketers and project managers to envision, design and prototype new growth products, features and initiatives. We are passionate about identifying and connecting with our target users, and becoming their advocate to influence our products to meet their needs.

As a Product Designer at MyFitnessPal, you will contribute to projects from start to finish, delivering exceptional user experience design and visual interface design, ensuring alignment with established design systems for a seamless user journey. The Product Designer will create compelling stories, define information architecture, craft intuitive flows, and produce interactive prototypes and wireframes to facilitate users in accomplishing their objectives while immersing them in memorable and visually pleasing experiences. Your contributions to the overall product strategy will be driven by your deep understanding of user goals and business needs.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Translate concepts into simple and elegant experiences that satisfy both business and user needs
• Design and test prototypes of products, features, and interactions based on customer feedback or market research to ensure MyFitnessPal meets customer needs
• Uphold a commitment to delivering high-quality work within designated timelines while actively engaging in continuous learning to enhance the skills of the design team
• Leverage a data-driven approach to inform and validate design decisions, utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to support design choices and drive impactful outcomes
• Effectively socialize and present design solutions and their rationale to the team and key stakeholders, fostering understanding and alignment
• Act as a bridge between research insights and actionable design concepts, utilizing design thinking tools such as journey maps, empathy mapping, personas, prioritization grids, user flows, wireframes, mocks, prototypes, and specifications for various desktop and mobile platforms
• Foster collaboration across User Research, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Customer Happiness teams to gain a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points, actively working towards efficient solutions throughout the end-to-end design experience, from concept to product launch
• Focus on creating operational excellence within the Product Design team, emphasizing learning, feedback, and high-velocity iteration
• Partner closely with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, Researchers, and Marketers to deliver high-quality experiences for customers across markets, platforms, and product surfaces

Qualifications to be successful in this role: 

• Degree in User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Fine Art, or a related discipline
• 2-4 years of experience in consumer-facing digital product design
• People-focused design thinking mentality
• Experience in integrating gamification elements and techniques into product designs
• Experience in both app-based mobile design (iOS and Android) and web
• Proficient with Figma, Sketch, Adobe CS, prototyping, and adaptable to various software
• Confident presentation and storytelling skills
• Understanding of digital media, design trends, and relevant tools. Experience working within diverse, dynamic, cross-functional teams. Self-organizing, proactively brings new ideas to the team, and demonstrates a strong work ethic
• Eager to solicit feedback from real users and teammates
• Familiarity with design to developer handoff. Basic skills in issue tracking, agile practices, and delivery with attention and consideration of file etiquette in a shared environment

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $75,000 - $95,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, MyFitnessPal offers a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, parental planning, mental health benefits, annual performance bonus, a 401(k) plan and match, responsible time off, monthly wellness and technology allowances, and others.
