Product Counsel - Internet and Social Media

US - US - Remote

We are currently seeking an experienced product counsel with a strong background in technology and privacy law to join our client’s product legal team in a long-term contract role. This is a great opportunity to work on novel issues in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary legal strategic advisor for product and engineering teams, delivering practical legal risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders in Legal, Privacy, Product, Policy and other teams on product development and product launches.
  • Provide holistic legal advice across many subject matter areas including social media, data privacy, content regulation, competition, consumer protection, data security, and other global legal frameworks.  

Qualifications: 

  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one US state bar.
  • 5-8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm or in-house experience (applicable product counseling, privacy counseling, regulatory, and compliance experience).
  • Prior in-house product counseling experience at a tech company is strongly desired.
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, delivering practical advice under pressure and operating within ambiguity.
  • Experience in managing legal risk across multiple jurisdictions, including global privacy laws, content regulations, litigation, and compliance matters.
  • Experience in advancing complex initiatives in a highly-charged multi-stakeholder environment. 

Compensation, Benefits & Location:

This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $220,000+ and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.  Axiomites also get access to professional development resources and learning and development programs. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
