Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Global Privacy Intern to support our privacy and data protection initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. This role offers an excellent short-term opportunity for an undergraduate to obtain hands-on experience in privacy compliance, data protection regulations, and global privacy program management. You will work closely with the privacy team, legal, IT, and various business units to assist in ensuring compliance with global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and others.

This position is remote.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support Privacy Program initiatives as assigned
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the company’s privacy and data protection program.
  • Gain insights into the global privacy and data protection program (the “Privacy Program”) design and how it runs comporting with laws, regulations and industry standards that include, among other topics, HIPAA, state privacy laws, GDPR, and other major global privacy legislative frameworks, and compliance with applicable corporate codes and policies.
  • Support the team in responding to data subject access requests (DSARs), right to be forgotten requests, and other individual rights requests under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
  • Conduct best practices research on privacy and data protection topics and make recommendations based on research and business objectives.
  • Assist in various proactive and reactive monitoring and auditing activities, including but not limited to review of privacy controls, Learning Management Training assignments and completion rates, etc.
  • Assist in creation and delivery of new employee onboarding or other privacy compliance training content (virtual, e-Learning and/or live facilitated training) and employee awareness campaigns, as assigned.
  • Support any necessary revisions of data retention, data minimization, and data protections policies and the implementation of those revisions.
  • Participate in creation and maintenance of metrics for various levels of regulatory privacy compliance monitoring, reporting and governance.
  • Gain insights into data analytics for privacy policy in making decisions and policy.
  • Ability to independently identify trends and/or risks based upon data analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, IT, and HR to ensure alignment with privacy requirements.
  • Manage and successfully execute ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment towards Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business, Information Technology, Data Protection, Compliance, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interest in privacy laws, data protection, and information security.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Salary Range:

$34,000.00 - $54,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis, and may differ based on the hiring location.
