Principal Systems Engineer

Leidos is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team and support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The Principal Systems Engineer will work closely with the DES Engineering Portfolio Manager and Chief Engineer to manage the execution of innovation and emerging technology projects using Agile and DevSecOps best practices. The Principal Systems Engineer will work across a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure the effective design, implementation, and delivery of solutions across various inter-related workstreams.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must possess and ACTIVE SECRET or above DoD clearance to be considered for this critical role. (US Citizenship required)
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage a prioritized backlog of requirements, working closely across various project stakeholders, including customers, engineering, operations, and management
- Ensure a consistent and unambiguous understanding of items int the product backlog so that design and implementation meet the intent of each requirement
- Oversee the execution of Agile projects, helping to remove blockers and escalate issues to ensure the engineering teams can execute effectively
- Promote participation from other DES stakeholders throughout the lifecycle to validate assumptions and improve solution acceptance
- Identify, implement, and promote continuous improvements aimed at standardizing processes, increasing transparency, and incorporating feedback from various stakeholders groups
- Employ interpersonal communication skills necessary to inspire, direct, and manage a large agile development program, with technical personnel of all levels
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience
- Expertise with system requirements management, including requirements analysis and decomposition
- Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, including the ability to logically create structure and order from unstructured inputs
- Expertise with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence
- Experience applying continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) best practices and tools
- Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain experience in enterprise IT, infrastructure operations, and cybersecurity

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
