The Azure Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our vibrant team. This role involves collaboration with Red Hat to deliver Azure Red Hat OpenShift with Hosted Control Planes, aiming to develop a more efficient and reliable architecture for deploying Red Hat OpenShift clusters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of the Kubernetes infrastructure management such as buildout, scaling, upgrade, monitoring, and security based on Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Work with Red Hat to deliver Azure Red Hat OpenShift with Hosted Control Planes by integrating with Azure platform to meet Microsoft quality and compliance requirements
  • Dive deeply into any level or layer of a problem in microservices and Kubernetes.
  • Advance capabilities and improve quality of service for Azure Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders, disciplines, and architects deliver an exceptional product to our partners and customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of coding experiences around Kubernetes, container infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of experiences in leading the design and implementation of a new distributed system or critical components of existing distributed systems.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experiences in cloud services, but not limited to Azure.
  • Experiences in Cloud Native Development on Kubernetes
  • Experiences in managing and troubleshooting with Kubernetes

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
