The iOS Home Evaluation team works on features for a popular real-estate app in the US. We provide detailed information on homes to help customers make informed decisions. Our team manages the Home Detail Page, the busiest page on Zillow. We offer tools to assess homes, making it easier for customers to find their ideal home. We also provide insights on saved home pages, allowing customers to organize homes into collections and compare them side by side. Customer feedback is essential in shaping our design choices for the best user experience. Our team releases bug fixes and features every week.

About the role

Join our Home Evaluation Team as an iOS Mobile Principal Software Development Engineer at Zillow. You'll contribute to a high-impact project that reaches millions of users, shaping their experience in exploring and evaluating homes.
 

You will also:

  • Identify, scope, and lead complex, strategic projects with wide impact across the company.
  • Design the systems necessary to expand our suite of products while balancing speed-to-market and scalability for customer-facing features.
  • Work multi-functionally to align technical initiatives and decisions, including product, design, and other engineering teams.
  • Drive the continued development of a long-term technical strategy for iOS.
  • Bring technical expertise to decision making and architecture, having a keen eye for constraints while building the best solution.
  • Tackle hard engineering and user experience problems, solving them in an elegant and seamless manner.
  • Take ownership of features and areas of the mobile application that will impact millions of users.
  • Identify gaps in our systems, ideate solutions, and help steer the execution of the solution.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $186,300.00 - $297,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Strong OO programming experience: Swift, Objective-C.
  • Expert in software development domain and principles, including design patterns, code structure, programming languages, continuous integration, and deployment architecture.
  • Experience in setting technical direction, planning, and successfully completing large projects that involve multiple teams. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across teams and organizations.
  • Ability to lead and work closely with other engineers and individuals in BE roles, product, and design, across various fields and subject areas.
  • Ability to break down complex projects into components or achievements that can easily be picked up by other engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with Agile development processes.
  • Ability to mentor and coach Jr developers.
