Principal Roadway Engineer

Job Description:
Parsons Corporation has an immediate opening for an experienced Principal-level Civil Roadway & Highway Engineer. This role is for supporting design engineering of various DOT projects, as well as surrounding regional projects. While the position would initially be remote, candidates must be based near Nashville, Tennessee.
What You'll Be Doing:
Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering functions of the projects including coordination of technical disciplines and development of project alternatives, and preliminary and final design
Design horizontal and vertical roadway alignments, and super elevation diagrams
Design of ramps, interchanges, and road apertures
Perform quantity calculations project estimates
Managing Associate Engineers in completing project deliverables
Develop details to construction, detour, signing and marking, as well as erosion control drawings
Coordinate with project team and interdisciplinary technical personnel
Assists the project manager in completing the project deliverables
Ensures project is adhering to client criteria and scope
Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management
Assist in obtaining, analyzing, and circulating technical and contractual information to project disciplines
May be responsible for the scope development, scope management and commercial performance of projects to meet project goals and objectives
Assist functional managers to identify company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work
Assist in identifying new project pursuits, gathers intelligence regarding these pursuits, participates in Parsons’ pursuit process, and may lead response to client requests for proposals/qualifications
What Skills & Qualifications You'll Bring:
4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
10 years or more of related work experience
Roadway & Highway design experience with state DOT or Federal Highway projects
Geometric alignments design
Microstation experience is essential, either with Inroads, OpenRoads, or Geopak
Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferred
