Abbyy is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Application DBA with strong experience in SQL Server Database Administration to join our SRE team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SQL database management, troubleshooting complex database queries, and supporting the overall database infrastructure hosted on Azure SQL Servers. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing database performance, supporting applications, and resolving any issues that arise to ensure a seamless and reliable service.

Key Responsibilities:


- Database Management & Maintenance: Manage and maintain SQL databases, including monitoring performance, implementing security best practices, and applying patches and updates as required.
- Database Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries and application issues. Ensure timely resolution of incidents and root cause analysis.
- Infrastructure Support: Understand and support the database infrastructure on Azure SQL servers. Ensure all databases are running optimally, monitoring resource usage, and scaling as necessary to meet the demands of the applications.
- Performance Tuning & Query Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of SQL queries and database configurations. Review execution plans, indexes, and design patterns for efficiency and performance.
- Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery: Implement and test backup and recovery strategies for SQL databases to ensure high availability and data integrity. Work on disaster recovery plans and ensure database recovery is reliable and meets business requirements.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and application teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot database schemas and code. Document procedures, configurations, and changes to the database environment.
- Support & Troubleshooting: Provide support for database-related incidents in a production environment, ensuring the application uptime and addressing any database issues that impact the functionality of business-critical applications.

Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator working with SQL Server databases.
- Proven experience troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting SQL queries and database issues.
- Experience with databases in cloud environments, specifically Azure SQL Databases is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of SQL query performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools.
- Proficient in database scripting, including the creation of stored procedures, triggers, and other SQL objects.
- Familiarity with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Understanding of backup, restore, replication, and high availability strategies.
- Familiarity with other databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Experience with PowerShell or similar automation tools for database management.
- Knowledge of application deployment and database integration into CI/CD pipelines.

Salary Range:

-The anticipated base salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $165,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
