Principal Data Center Engineer

Voltage Park is building a machine learning cloud infrastructure business from the ground up. As part of this effort, we’re hiring a Principal Data Center Engineer to lead the design and architecture of our next-generation GPU-centric infrastructure. As an early hire, you’ll work closely with the executive team and have significant influence in defining our company culture and ensuring our success.
This is a fully remote role, but you must be located in the continental United States. We are not able to provide sponsorship for this position.
Responsibilities:
Develop detailed data center designs, encompassing server layouts, networking architecture, storage solutions, and environmental considerations
Engineer infrastructure to optimize for low TCO, low PUE, and high reliability
Implement monitoring systems to continuously assess and measure environmental conditions within the data center
Assess current and future infrastructure needs, including server, networking, and storage capacity. Develop capacity planning of core data center services
Evaluate, recommend, and deploy hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions that enhance efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness
Create comprehensive and accurate documentation of data center designs, including schematics, layouts, and specifications. Maintain documentation to reflect any changes and updates in the data center environment.
Implement security measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Qualifications:
Comprehensive understanding of data center facility design and operations with respect to HVAC, electrical and physical security systems
Experience designing and building robust on-premises data centers
Proven experience as a Data Center Architect, Principal Data Center Engineer, or a similar role in designing and implementing data center solutions.
In-depth knowledge of data center technologies, including servers, networking, storage, and virtualization.
Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have:
Relevant certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) or equivalent.
