General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Principal Business Analyst role is responsible for critical components of the Company’s internal management reporting, including monthly internal management reporting, financial analysis, and budgeting. 

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.

  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships across a diverse team with varying interests, perspectives and directives

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial concepts with an ability to clearly communicate to a diverse audience

  • Ability to take broad and sometimes complex issues, simplify findings and effectively communicate to audiences with limited accounting/financials experience

  • Highly motivated, organized, detail oriented, and a team player

  • Exceptional MS Excel skills required

  • Experience with Power BI required

  • Experience with Planful, other database tools, VBA and/or SQL a plus

  • Ability to travel (up to 10%-15%)

Key Personal Attributes Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).

  • 3-5 years of financial and/or business analytics experience, professional designation a plus

  • Experience in the agriculture industry preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

Strategic Business Analysis & Communication:

  • Analyze complex business challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and design impactful solutions to align with organization goals.

  • Collaborate with Field Leadership to translate business needs into actionable projects and initiatives providing high level insights and strategic recommendations

  • Act as a liaison between finance and other departments, providing guidance on financial matters.

  • Communicate complex financial data and insights in a clear and actionable manner to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Assist in strategic planning by providing financial analysis and insights to business leaders.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the main point of contact for key stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication of business needs, changes, and progress.

  • Develop strong relationships with executive teams, department heads, and other business units to facilitate collaboration and drive business initiatives forward.

  • Lead meetings and presentations to gather feedback, align expectations, manage stakeholder concerns and layout findings, including actionable insights, to leadership teams.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes.

  • Analyze and interpret financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

  • Monitor and track key financial metrics, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop regular automated and ad-hoc financial/other reports for senior management, stakeholders, and other key business units.

  • Create presentations and reports to present findings and actionable insights to leadership teams.

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets.

  • Develop accurate financial forecasts to predict future financial outcomes based on current data and trends.

  • Collaborate with departments to review budget variances and recommend corrective actions.

Business Process Improvement:

  • Analyze business processes and financial operations to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.

  • Work closely with other departments to implement changes that optimize financial performance.

  • Provide data-driven insights to help streamline financial and operational procedures.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)

  • Experience in Agricultural financial analysis is preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $113,100 - $158,460. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. 

  • This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
